  Just went into upgrade our phone and plan and the customer service was possibly the worse I’ve experienced. Switching to Verizon after 15+ years with AT&T.

  Leaving a Plan I was trying to get off of my brother's plan. I'm already authorized on the account. I'm immediately told by the woman at the front door there would need to be a note on the account saying I'm allowed to do that. She then proceeds to give me a number for my brother to call to add said note. My brother calls the number and he is told there is no such process and I'm already authorized on the account as long as I have a pin. Which I have and told the store I had. Not a good start. Meanwhile I'm placed in que to be helped by another Rep. Once I speak to this new rep, I'm told AT&T doesn't have to do anything in order for another competitor to port out the number from AT&T. He fails to mention I need to pay the balance on the phone (understandable, I brought a checkbook) (the rep on the phone with my brother explained the balance would just be added to the bill. He also failed to mention I need to unlock the phone through the AT&T website, obtain an IMEI # along with a few other steps. I know I'm leaving the contract and you won't be selling me anything but some basic knowledge and steps about how to go about that would be extremely useful. I'm alarmed by the lack of knowledge at this store and how quickly they want to get rid of you if you aren't buying anything. Matthew was the rep who "helped" once I was in the que.
