  We called Imperial Wood Floors along with two other flooring companies to get a walk through and estimates for several things, including: sanding and refinishing ~ 1200 sq ft of flooring, removing carpet from a room and refinishing the floor, sanding and staining a stair case, repairing some poor patch jobs and eliminating squeaking in several places. Of the three companies I called, Imperial Wood Floors is the only one that responded. Another asked if I was still interested in them coming out on the day they were supposed to be there after not responding to my emails for 4 days. I said no, don't bother. Jeff was on time and immediately started explaining the differences in our flooring and the condition it was in. He talked about pricing for repairing some bad patch jobs and what he considered worth it or not. He gave us a run down of the types of wood we had, the condition of the wood in each room and what he could do, couldn't do and what might not be worth worrying about. He said they could try to eliminate squeaking, but it would likely take an entire floor replacement to accomplish it and if we didn't want to spend the money to do that, it wasn't worth our money to "chase" squeaks around. He knew coming in this was a walk through and estimate and that we were only in the planning stage, but he stayed for almost two hours to talk to us and explain our options. He provided a very detailed, broken down estimate later that night that was about right where I expected the cost to be. Some of the work was actually cheaper than I anticipated though. Based just on the fact that Jeff showed up and spent the time talking to us and letting use know what our options were, I would highly recommend him and his company. We will definitely be contacting them in the near future once we get our flooring project in motion.
